Isolation to Innovation

This masterclass series aims to inspire artists from all walks of life to start rebuilding what has been lost – and transform isolation into innovation.

Over the past few months, the world has gone through immense changes in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. With lockdowns enforced on a local, national and international level, the loss of over half a million lives due to the pandemic has been followed closely by the loss of livelihoods for millions of people – most notably in the hospitality, tourism, cultural and creative industries.

We’re responding to this by staging the Isolation to Innovation Masterclass series on August 12th, 2020.

This will coincide with International Youth Day and tie in with UNESCO #ResiliArt movement.

Realising the current state of despair and confusion, this masterclass series aims to inspire artists from all walks of life to start rebuilding over what has been lost and therefore transform isolation into innovation.

We aim to achieve this by providing five one-hour masterclasses – each curated by a creative peer mentor in the following formats:

* 20-minute theoretical session. This will provide tangible knowledge that creatives can apply to their critical-thinking and development processes.

* 40-minute practical guided session. Inspiring workshops that will help creatives apply the acquired theory into practical, creative action.

This masterclass series will use art as a tool for expressing, communicating and documenting the experiences of emerging creatives during the global COVID-19 crisis, while equipping artists with hands-on ability to effectively plan for their future careers.
